Directions to The Fort at Sandy Hook
Chapel
From the NJ Turnpike going south, exit on to the Garden State Parkway, Exit 11.
Follow the Garden State Parkway to exit 117, pay toll and stay left to Route 36, Gateway National Park.
Continue on Route 36, approximately 12 miles.
As you approach the highlands bridge (you’ll see the ocean straight ahead) stay in the right lane to enter the Gateway National Park.
Follow the entrance road 5 miles bearing left on the Bay side of the peninsula at the stop sign when you are facing the Fort Hancock sign. This is Hartshorne Road and the bay will be on your left side, and the officers row houses will be on your right.
Follow this road for a ˝ mile and up ahead on your left is the white Chapel.
From South:
Take Garden State Parkway to exit 105, Eatontown, Rt. 36. Continue down Rt. 36 until you reach Ocean Ave. Make a left onto Ocean Ave and follow through Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright, following signs to Gateway National Park, Sandy Hook. Bare right onto the island and follow directions above to reach Chapel.
